Rarely, selegiline causes an unusual and serious side effect, high blood pressure in the brain and neck. This can lead to unconsciousness or a coma. If this occurs, call your doctor immediately.

Other less common side effects of this medication include a decrease in sexual desire or performance and an inability to sleep. Also, it has been reported that patients taking this medication may experience intense urges to gamble, spend money, or have a sexual desire. This medication should be discontinued if this occurs.

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other medical condition, including depression, liver disease, kidney disease, or diabetes. This medication should not be taken by pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding.
